With it not too far off until my wedding day I decide I was time to focus on my make up I would wear on the day.

(Yet again wedding planning and work has kept me away from my blog!)

I have always decided from day one that I would do my own make up on the day, and would not hire a make up artist. This was a easy decide for me to make, I understand this is a personally choice so its cool whatever you decide.

Some of reasons behind my decision:

  1. I think make up is very personal process, I find it awkward if someone else touches my face, the only other person who has done my make up is my Mum many years ago.

  2. I enjoy doing it, sometime I spend a whole afternoon trying out new products or styles.

  3. I have a often unusual style and feel that it would be missed it I had someone else do it.

  4. I getting married in different country so your have to think about communication issues, possibly being unable to do a trail beforehand and its a country full of tan skin, I have extremely pale skin- would they have a foundation in my shade!

  5. I am a control freak, so best to do it myself to avoid anxiety.

  6. Its a good excuse to buy more make up! (Sorry if my other half is reading this!)

So it always good to start off with a good foundation (true in both make up and building!!) so a few months ago I decide to start my research.

I am yet to find my halo grail foundation otherwise it would be an easy choice, the closest I have is the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation but I felt it not a bridal foundation, as it not very natural looking.

The top foundation I found, when searching for best foundation for your big day was the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, it looks stunning on the skin, is long wearing, is meant to be very good in the heat, and is good for oily skin (yes my apparently oily skin! - This will be discuss in PART 2)

Its a pricey foundation (£33.50 for 30mls) and is very rarely on discount, so would be a costly mistake if it did not suit my skin type or I did not like it.

Also, as discussed on most reviews of the product it does not come with a pump, I feel this is not very hygienic and leads to wasting a lot of product. I feel this is a mega downside as even cheap drugstore foundations come with pumps so why wouldn't a £33.50 product.

Needless to say the pump is available to buy separately for £5.50 bring the whole price to £39.00. To me personally, that is an investment not just a foundation.

To avoid a costly mistake I headed over the Ebay and found that it was very easy to pick up testers of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in most shades.

(N.B. Please take time to must sure that you pick a good seller, to lessen the chance of wasting your money and increasing the chance of picking someone who will send you a genuine sample)

I was under the impression that I was the shade 1W1 Bone so managed to pick up a 5 ml sample for approx. £8.

One the sample arrive in the post I literally could not wait to put it to the test, and I love it.

I found I rarely had to powder it down ,if ever, was super long wearing, look natural and photographed really well. It lived up to all my expectations.

I wore it on nights out and it even survived a day to a theme park where it went from a super hot summers day to tropical thunderstorm! Out of the 5ml sample bottle I got so many applications, which was  a good surprise. I decided it had to be brought.

I have never brought anything from a make up counter, in fact I find them quite intimidating. But I made an exception this time. The reason being was that I wanted to be colour matched properly, I did not want any mistakes on my big day. So I went to a Boots in town which has a Estee Lauder counter with my Twin. I went make up free on the day and was colour matched to 1C1 Cool Bone, it was a perfect match.

I was a slight shock to me as I though I had a neutral leaning towards warm undertone but I see the coolness now, so I will have to start embracing my English Rose Skin!

First product down many to go!

How beautiful does this foundation photograph?!
