Beauty Blender Bounce Foundation Review
It is quite possibly the most controversial foundation of the year, if not the most controversial, make up product of 2018! So I had to try it for myself!
Let's talk about Shade Range
The controversy surrounded it shade range, the number of shade available was not the problem. It available in 32 shade. But unfortunately the variety of
shades and lack of deeper shades was it downfall. This is something that cannot be ignored, and was commented on by every Beauty Blogger when it was first released in the US in July.
Similarly controversy hit the Tarte Shape Tape Foundation in January 2018. Their downfall regarding their shade range was largely down to their decision to release 15 shades in what seemed like a rather rushed product. It appeared that they were trying to gain success off the back of their No. 1 concealer, Shape Tape. This majority affected the product as many influencers turned their back on it and some refusing to review it at all. The brand Tarte is not readily available in the UK so was not a major storm here but we watched the drama unfold on You Tube!
I acknowledge that in the drug store market there are some lower end brands (not Loreal or Maybelline) which still released foundation in 8 shades or less and this cannot be ignored either but they most likely have less funding to put into their product development, as they are so cheap. But for a foundation costing $40 or £32, by some of the biggest and most expensive brands in the business only the most extensive shade range should be expected. I really hope that Beauty Blender release some new shades soon before it too late, and do not made the same mistake if they decide to extend their product range.

Packaging & Directions
This is the only foundation that I have brought which has a pull out A4 instruction manual. It my true style I have not read it at all! But there are brief directions written on the box.
The long instruction manual is most likely due to the complex packaging, I have not seen a foundation packaged like this before, it is innovative. The foundation is dispenses from a nozzle at the top of the bottle which allows it to fall in to the dish shaped imprint which is meant for you to use as a palette to pop your Beauty Blender (or any other make up sponge - it really doesn't matter!) and pop it straight on to your face and blend. Handily, it does that a lock at the back to prevent any unwanted pumps!
From the reviews I have seen myself most people complain about the foundation getting stuck in the small gap between the nozzle and the dish. I must admit that it is annoying but as the direction state the bottle should be held at a 45 degree angle which should help this issue and I can be easily be cleaned at the end of use. You would have to clean the dish at the end of use to et rid of any excess product so to me it is not big deal. Some people have been turn the bottle upside down and depending it on back of their hand and using it from there but you then have to clean the back of your hand, so it all the same really!
Formula & Finish
It's formula is on thicker side. I noticed it does not move down the dish when you dispense it out. But I fully agree the claims that it does have a weightless feel on the skin and for a medium to full coverage foundation that is a rarity.
My current "ride or die" full full coverage foundation is the Estée Launder Double Wear Foundation but I notice this one does not feel comfortable on the skin. It feel like you are wearing a second skin, compared to this where it feels like you are wearing nothing. This may have something to do with it more moisturising claims. My skin can often feel very dry despite moisturising morning and night but I do not get an uncomfortable dryness with this product.
I agree it is a medium to full buildable foundation, on me. You may disagree with this claim if you have blemishes or discolouration on the skin. I currently have really good skin with very little blemishes or discolouration so I cannot really comment on how it covers those but I must say it is not a full full coverage like double wear. Which I really do not mind. As a result I feel this would be a good foundation for everyday or day-to-night where as Double Wear can be a bit too much for everyday.
What is a 'velveteen finish'? I am going to guess that it is between a matte and a glowy finish. Feel free to disagree with me!
When I was first starting to get into make up, about 6 years ago, I loved a matte foundation. That was most likely down to have very oily ache prone skin. Over the years my skin has now changed to a more combination skin type with both areas of dryness and a oily T Zone. I do not mind a dewy foundation but you have to be careful not end up looking like an oily mess whereas a matte foundation can settle in my dry patches and make me look like I have dinosaur skin! So any foundation which can be an in between is more likely to be my friend. And it is one of those in-betweens!
My favourite face powder, the Too Faced Peach Perfect Powder, can be quite mattifying. This helps the longevity of the foundation. It does allow the more dewiness to come through after a time but without the foundation coming off, which my skin is more likely to do if I do not fully powder my face.
It finish does give you that Instagram ready skin, which is an added bonus.
The Price Tag
I cannot ignore that it an expensive foundation, as that price you cannot pick it up and hope that it works. I always read and watch a lot of reviews before I purchase a product especially in this price range, as I do not want to take an expensive risk.
Also shade matching was a massive factor too, this foundation is available exclusively on Cult Beauty which is an online store only. With buying from an online retailer it is sometimes a guessing game in term of shade, which I am fairly good at. On this occasion it was very easy online they did mentioned alternative shade matches from other brands' foundations. They said the shade 1.50 was a match for Double wear in 1C1 Cool Bone which is my shade (I was match for this in store at Estée Lauder) so that was probably the deciding factor for me. Once I saw that I was sold.
I also purchased this during Cult Beauty's Black Friday Sale, although the this did discount it slightly I upgraded to next day delivery as I NEEDED IT. I did not really need it I just wanted it before I travelled to Portugal the end week of the following week and sometimes Cult Beauty's delivery does take some time! So I did not really save any money in the end.
The Sponge
Finally you definitely do not need to purchase a Beauty Blender in use this, any sponge will do. I use an Eco Tool Sponge which I purchase from Just My Look it's a personal favourite. At less than £5 it's a lot less than a Beauty Blender. Although I would like to try one I really cannot justify the cost. A Beauty Blender from Cult Beauty cost £17 so with the foundation the combined cost comes to £49. That's a crazy price. Maybe they could be a bundles where you can get both for a reduced cost? Just a thought.
Let's Conclude
Is it worth the money, in my opinion 100% YES, would I repurchase this 100% YES.
The first time I wore this it survived a hairdressers appointment, colour, cut and blow dry, a shopping trip in the rain, and an 1 hour exercise class were I sweated tonnes (Sorry TMI?!)
I even love it enough it take it away with me, it that a true sign that you love and trust a product?
