Make Up Challenge - 46 Degree Heat
It was all over the internet that the weather in Portugal and Spain over last weekend (04/08/2018 05/08/2018) would be crazy. To some extent I did not believe it.
46, 47, 48 °c, possibly the highest temperture recorded! Come on!
Then our flight was delayed 5 hours (due to an issue related to the heat!), and when we finally getting off the plane at Midnight it felt like I had entered a Sauna not Portugal!
Ok it was true. But we are staying by the coast, it should be cooler. I was plucking at the last few pieces of information I could remember from my Geography A Level (it has been 6 years!) Oh no I thought I we were going to family party in more Central Portugal. My plan to wear contact lens was straight out the window, they would last about 5 mins!! Should I go natural? No make up? Never in a million year, its time to put my best and favourite makeup to the test!
If it last today, then it is bound to last all day at my wedding next week, when it about 15°c cooler!
Because I had about 5 hours to sleep, due to our delayed flight, I maximised my sleep time and decided to do a fairly quick make up look.
By fairly quick I mean 30 mins to 45 mins! So I did a nude eyes with some silver eyeshadow over the lid with a mauve purple lip!
N:B I brought to the Rimmel London Insta Fix and Matte to powder on the go. I foolishly thought it came with an applicator but it does not. (I brought it in the duty free!) As a result I had zero touch ups during the day! So I guess this makes it a really test!)
Below I will comment on each product and mark them out of 5
Suncare:
The Ordinary Suncare: Mineral UV Filters SPF 30 with Antioxidants
Did it take the heat? 5/5
The suncream is amazing! It is a non greasy formula which means it works great under foundation but also work great alone. I am really into afforable skin care at the moment aspecially protecting my skin from the sun, as I am really pale and get burnt very easily. I have been using this everyday of my holiday and I will contine to use this every day when I get home, regardless of the season. I recommend this to everyone and anyone. Protect your skin!
Primer:
The Ordinary: High-Adherence Silicone Primer
Did it take the heat? 5/5
My favourite primer to pair with my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. Keeps it locked in place all day. I try not to used regular basis and sometimes silicone based primers can clog my pores and lead to break outs. But in this heat was a good choice.
Foundation:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in 1C1 Cool Bone
Did it take the heat? 5/5
This is hands down may favourite foundation. I do not even mind the fairly expensive price tag, in fact I think it is worth it. This is so realiable. Apart for having a tendency to clump in any dry patch. There is not a single downside to it. I recommend using na acidic toner such a The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution (pH 3.6) and moisturing after to improve your dry skin areas! ) I have been used this toner for the last 3 months and I have notice a remarked difference in my skin.
Concealer:
Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer in C1
Did it take this heat? 5/5
Amazing at covering all my blemishes and dark circle especially from my lack of sleep. Works from well with my Estee Lauder Foundation and my Too Faced Peach Perfect Powder does not crease or disappear. It is very full coverage and that is what I love in a concealer.
Powder:
Too Faced Peach Perfect Loose Powder
Did it take heat? 5/5
Baked my face in this as I thought this would be the best thing to do to lock i my foundation and concealer and it did not let me down. The smell of it alone is enough to give it 5/5 on any occasion (its smells of peaches and figs!) But the fact it do not have to touch up again and I still looked amazing after 10 hours says everything.
Bronzer:
Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 01
Did it take heat? 3/5
Did not want to go overboard and contour for the occasion. I just wanted something to give me a little golden glow. Its started of great but by the end of the day it had disappeared leaving me looking a little flat and ghostly. Maybe using a more pigment, darker bronzer like the Benefit Hoola Bronzer would have been a better choice.
Blush:
Milani Baked Blush in Bella Bellini
Did it take the heat? 3/5
Same also above by the end of the day it had disappeared. But it is a lovely colour and maybe next time I will put more of this product on, sometimes I think that I am a little shy with blushers. (Im scared of looking like a clown!!)
Highlighter:
MUA Lux: Set and Reflect Finishing Kit in White Gold
Did it take the heat? 3/5
This product always looks amazing. It is the perfect highlighter for me. I just look like I am glowing from within. But by the end of the day without being about to powder down and reapply it was creating my own glow from within. So I do not think this is a bad product, I just think that highlighters, along with bronzers and blushers are something that have to be reapply throught out the day.
Eyeshadow:
Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bom Eyeshadow Palette & Revolution X Soph Extra Spice Palette
Did it take heat? 5/5
Worked really will the concealer as a base, I normally use the Mac Paint Pot in Soft Orche but was in a bit of a rush so just used my concealer. And suprisingly it did not crease. A special shout out to the shade Infinity in the Soph Extra Spice palette. Its the perfect Silver and keep my eyes looking popping all day and evening.
Eyeliner:
Revolution Renaisssance Flick Liner
Did it take heat? 5/5
I always get the perfect flick with this and I have actually repurchased this as I am scared to run out. Did the job and did not smudge! Paired this with basic Avon Black liner to tight liner, to get my liner on point!
Masacara:
Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot Volume Express Mascara
Did it take heat? 4/5
This was a completely new purchase I know that my sister has used this before so I thought I would purchase this now that my Benefit Masacara has completely dried out and is way passed its use by date. Created good length and volume but did smudge thoughout the day especially on the lower lash line. But this did not suprise me as a waterproof mascara may have been a better choice. But I do not really use them anymore as i find it rips out your lashes when you removed it.
Eyebrows:
Revolution Pro Mirco Brow Pencil in Light Brown
Did it take the heat? 5/5
Did not smudge and lasted all day. Really enjoyed applying this product and suprised at how long it it held up in the heat, considering its price point.!
Lashes:
Eyelure x Fleur de Force in Fleur & Fabulous
Did it take heat? 2/5
I love these lashes by the glue that come with these is rubbish. Did nott last more than a few hours. I re glued them and they lasted na extra hour. I decide the removed them and give up! (N.B do not wear lashes in the heat without amazing glue!)
Lipstick:
Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip in Versailies
Did it take heat? 2/5
Normally my go to lipstick formula if I need something to last all day. So I did not think any differently. But because of the dry weather it began to flack and become very comfortable. I touched this up once duing the day, Normally a very good lipstick formula but I would not recommend in the heat.
Finishing Spray:
Skindinavia: The Make Up Finishing Spray BRIDAL
Did it take heat? 8/5 !!!
The Holy Grail of all Finishing Spray. Keep eveything on lock, no matter the heat, and by far the best beauty product I have ever purchased. It is worth the price tag. Just go and buy it. NOW! It will not let you down!

Would you believe me if I said that these photos where taken after 7 hours sweating in the hottest day in Portugal ever?.
