When Benefit Cosmetics releasing this product created a massive hype. Which I was determined to not get drawn in to. When they finally the released it on the 1st February it, we found out that it was a mascara, firstly I thought all this hype just for a mascara! I have already tried their They’re Real mascara and I thought it was ok, not a game changer or anything. For the hype they created I thought it would be something new and different. I wasn't really impressed. Then I saw the reviews, the photos, and I slowly craving in the end I really wanted to try it. I looked at it gives a you that false lash effect, with lashes up to the sky. I was sold.
I brought mine from QVC’s website they had a offer on this product at the time so I paid around £16. This does come in a smaller travel size for £10.50 for 0.14oz so I would recommend you try this one first before buying the full size product. Which is £21.50 for 0.3oz of Product
I have been using this product from last 6 weeks, it not my everyday mascara because I feel that it a little too much from my work environment but I have been using this on my days off or the weekend. I recently took this on a week away to Portugal. As my only mascara I took on the trip I feel like I really got to know the product well and therefore I can give it a honest and full review.
Firstly the packaging, for me it feels larger than the standard mascara, especially compared to the Benefit’s They’re Real and Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara. Otherwise its matte black and has a studded cap. I looks and feels very cool. It has a very long brush that tapers, in order to coat all the lashes. But it not about package its about performance.
This mascara is very pigmented in colour, they is not denying this is a pitch black in mascara. It coats the lashes easily and it gives them length. It is smudge proof and water resistant, you will not get panda eyes with this product, and lasts all day. But this a far as they positive go for me.
This mascara is very liquidy on application and takes forever to dry, this means this product transfers absolutely everywhere your eyelid, your lower lashes lines, your cheeks, your nose I have been so careful with this product and it keep happening pretty much everytime. Its a nightmare. The more you built up this product the worse it is. I have waited a good 5 minutes to spray fixing spray on my face to find the mascara as still not dried down and end up with mascara all over my eyeshadow and have to start all over again.
Otherwise, this mascara is volumising, in the terms that it gives you length but this gives absolutely no curler. I understand that this is not a curling mascara but you need some curl to create good length and that false length effect.
I find it does weight down my lashes this is very evident in my photo especially on one of my eyes. (I have curled my lashes with eyelash curlers before applying the mascara)
In conclusion, I had really high hopes for this mascara, I guess this is linked to the hype and buzz that Benefit created around this product, and I usually love Benefit products, my first high end eyeshadow palette was from this brand. I will continue to use this product until it run out. I am curious to see it this mascara will take long than other mascara to dry out as it is very liquidy. Unfortunately this mascara has resulted in me hate my own eyelashes detesting how flat and short they are, so much I even looked at getting my lashes permed. But I got over this, and I really think this mascara is probably the problem. This maybe is not the best mascara for me and I need one which will give me a little bit more curl. Maybe Benefits’s Roller Lash should be the next on to try list.
