e.l.f 16hr Cameo vs Revoultion Conceal & Define

Concealer Comparison

I was strolling through my phone the other day and I was sucked in to a sponsored news article about the ‘BEST CONCEALER EVER’ (well it might not have be exactly those words but its was definitely along though lines!)

My first thought was it could have been for a high end product, which is largely the case with sponsored articles, you read them sucked in completely then realise it for a product that you can never afford. It wasn't.

The next product I was expecting see was the Collection Concealer. It has been a cult favourite  for years, and have been widely spoken about on the internet. Unfortunately its a  product that does work for me. Surprisingly it wasn't.

Lastly I though it could be Revolution’s Conceal & Define Concealer. This concealer must have been the best new concealer on the market in 2018. It award winning. Its amazing value and works well. I myself have purchased this many times. It was even the concealer that I wore on my Wedding Day. Now thats trust!

It was amazing to see that it was for none of those products. It was for Elf Cosmetic’s 16HR Cameo Concealer. It was getting rave reviews, its full coverage and for only £5 I NEEDED to try it.

But I did noticed it is very similar to Revolution’s Conceal & Define so I really wanted to compare the two so this is what I spent my Sunday doing!

e.l.f 16Hr Cameo Concealer

I purchased mine online from Superdrug. E.l.f do have their own UK website which had all the shades available. I did noticed that Superdrug were not carrying all the shades. But Superdrug offer free click and collect postage so I thought I would save some money were I could.

I pick up the shade Fair Warm, I was looking for Fair Rose but it did to appear to available from Superdrug so I went with Fair Warm instead. Which I think works better for me. I do have a cool undertone, but I feel I lean more cool-neutral compared to a true cool undertone.

As I mention I have repurchase this concealer many times. I very much enjoy using the product. I use the shade C1  currently, although C0.5 may be a better match for me. But I brought a supersize a little while ago before the shade C0.5 was available. I find C1 does not brighten me up very well, if at all.

As you can see the claims are very similar and they do have a very similar price points. They both have very large doe foot applicators which I feel work the best to apply concealer.

Application

Both apply well will their large doe foot applicators, the Revolution Concealer is a slightly thinner in consistency but do not be mistaken they are both thick formulas.

In my opinion the e.l.f concealer does cover better, and more evenly than the Revolution when applied.

I blended them both out which a sponge.

The e.l.f  concealer did take more effort to blend out. But still appeared more full coverage and blended out in more of an even way. My appear pores were more concealed compared to the Revolution side. On the Conceal and Define side some of my pores where still visible and some appeared more emphasized. But both covered my dark circles amazingly well, so I would say they are full coverage. The e.l.f concealer does brighten my face more than the Revolution but that is pure because of the shades I brought. I do prefer the colour of the e.l.f, but this personal preference.

I did not wear the concealer for very long, I definitely was not going to try out e.l.f 16hr claim! But both wore well for the time I wore them. I think that was around 6 hours. They both did not oxide, which is great. This is the reason why do not like the Collection Concealer.

So, what do I think overall?

I think both concealer are worth a go for their amazing price points. They are both full coverage and non caking. I do think the e.l.f will replace my Conceal and Define, but, I may pick C0.5 and see if that makes any difference. But I do like the why the e.l.f concealer conceals especially my pores. But I did feel I was in line for a change.
